My thoughts on leadership based on the CEO talks I have attended
1.0) Leadership
Leadership is a complex phenomenon which is often the result of forces in the leader, the follower and situation. Leadership effectiveness is not a function of purely the leader, but is the result of how a leader is able to size up followers and the situation and be able to enact the sort of behaviour that brings out the best in every single follower in order to achieve something great for the greater good of the widest pool of stakeholders.
What exactly is a leader? In my opinion, a leader is someone who does not simply does what he/she is told. A leader has his/her own initiative and drive, be it to complete a task or solve a problem. He/she sources his/her strength and conviction from within rather than from formal authority or directives. Someone who has the ability to light fires, liberate energy, to encourage people to act on their own in the spirit of the leader. Contagious enthusiasm is a key quality for good leadership.
A good leader commands the respect and earns the trust of their employees...
