Breakfast at Tiffany’s
In Breakfast at Tiffany’s, by Truman Capote, the main character-- Holly Golightly lives in a unstable lifestyle, for she only makes connections with men who can provide her with money and aid her to live a glamorous life. Instead of making lasting emotional connections with people, she moves from one man to another not only on behalf of money but also to help her improve her social status within the New York City. Holly Golightly’s search for financial security and the hope for success for publicity suggest that she was very likely a victim of abuse. ... Holly does not love him at all, instead, she treats him as a kind of pet, asking him to pour her friends drinks and other favors, which he does unquestionably. ... Not Tiffany’s, but almost. ... Although Holly has many acquaintances and lovers, she does not make any deep and strong emotional connections to any of them.
