Where does the water go?
Overview of the Lesson
This activity is designed to provide students with a basic concept of water evaporation, and how water can be transferred from the ground back into the air after it falls from a cloud. The lesson will explain some information about water vapor and evaporation, and the activity will give the students a chance to observe evaporation.
Purpose
The student will be able to understand the basic concept of water evaporation and then perform an experiment involving water and heat to cause evaporation.
Grade Level K-2

Investigate solids and liquids
Investigate the physical changes of matter
Objectives
Students should be able to get a basic idea of what happens to water during evaporation. Have students talk about what happens to water when it leaves the clouds and is on the ground. Explain to students about water vapor and discuss with them about evaporation. Students should be able to understand the concept and then experiment with water in direct sunlight as well as in the shade. The students should write down their predictions and then make observations after the experiment.
Procedure
Start the lesson by talking to students about rain...
