Charles Darwin: The Origin of Species
Charles Darwin was very influentuial in the Victorian Era. In religious matters, the Victorians were thrown into confusion and doubt of their beliefs. The reason was why did they doubt their beliefs? It was because of the ideas like those presented by Charles Darwin that the Victorians began to doubt their longheld Christian beliefs. Also Charles Darwin really shook things up with his book Origin of Man, which explained that the origin and evolution of man occurred by natural selection, rather than by the will of God. Many Victorians were confused by this. Some even felt that their Christian faith had betrayed them. This paper will not directly focus on the Spiritual aspect, but it will be mentioned on certain parts. In this paper on Charles Darwin and the Origin of Species we will first began by discussing the origin of the species and what people were like in the Victorian Era.
