Abstract
Delta Airlines has received assistance from the work-force development agencies of the federal government, which is being used to assist laid-off airline employees. The monetary amounts that have been requested for assistance has led to the dismissal of employees, the development of a career change projects for dislocated workers and the laying off workers throughout the organization. These things have lead into cancellation of flights to about half of the airline's destinations which has cause the company to go through some major financial struggle. The following presents several suggestions for how the U.S. airline industry can improve its economic outlook. It reveals how management has continued to use its cost-cutting measures to eliminate employment and how other measures such as the cancellation of planned furloughs is used to reduce the job cuts for pilots.
