History-Federal Mogul Corporation was founded in 1899 by J. Howard Muzzy and Edward F. Lyon. The Company was based out of Detroit Michigan where they sold mill supplies and rubber goods. In the early 1900's their innovations became so successful that they stopped selling mill supplies and began selling automotive bearings and metal projects. Soon after, the Mogul Metal Company became Federal-Mogul Corporation when the company merged with Federal-Bearing and Bushing. Throughout the 1980s Federal-Mogul has made acquisitions with companies such as Fel-Pro and Cooper Industries, and entered into joint ventures to strengthen its manufacturing position. Today, Federal-Mogul is a global supplier of automotive components serving the world's original equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket and employs 47,000 people in 24 countries.
