Our world today is ruled by technologyit is used everywhere in the world, and in every facet of life. From advances in medical technologies, to the globalization of communication; we've seen emerge a new world driven by the next big thing. Some fields have accelerated so quickly that the moral and ethical values associated with them have been left behind. One of these fields is biotechnology specifically genetic engineering. Some feel that we should always pursue progress regardless of consequences. But where do we draw the line? "Genetic engineering involves directly altering the genetic structure of an organism to provide it with traits deemed useful or desirable by those doing the altering" (Gert 65). It is not practical for our society today to live with the mistakes that scientists make with food and human experiments. However, there have been some benefits of this; treatments of diseases and new ways of producing crops have seen improvements. Also scientists are delving into a world in which was not meant to have human "contractors"...
