PABLO NERUDA
Pablo Neruda was born in Chile in 1904. His childhood develops in a society which is making and in an evironment of extraordinary natural beauty.
Precocious poet, he starts writing his first poem at age fifteen. In 1924 he published "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair" written with an expressive brilliance and with an extraordinary romantic feeling.
In recognition of his achievements, the Chilean Government appointed him to the consular service, and Neruda subsequently served as Chiles consul in several countries, including Spain, where in 1939 he used his office of consul to help the cause of the Spanish Loyalist. There, he published in 1933 "Residence on Earth", this book can be included in the aesthetic change of the vanguards, and, in particular, in the surrealism.
Due to his political commitment he was forced into political exile in 1947.
In 1950 he published " General Song" in Mexico. This book has often been considered his masterpiece; it expresses his new view of the world, his political ideology and solidarity with the oppresed and poors.
