During the Great Depression spanning from the years 1929-1939, the unemployment rates soared and not before long during the darkest and most severe years of the Depression, one-third of Canadas population at that time 10 million was unemployed. While, the upper and middle classes with relatively stable jobs noticed little to no changes in their lifestyles, however the lower working classes were devastated by the Depression. ... Certain goods were able to manufactured and produced quickly and efficiently on assembly lines, therefore fewer and fewer workers were required towards the beginning of the Depression years, this resulted in the flooding of the world market with an abundance of goods and products that were able to be produced rather cheaply compared to before.
