As teenagers approach the age of adulthood, which happens to be eighteen years old, they are granted certain obligations and responsibilities. They are allowed to go out and register to vote, buy lottery tickets, cigars and cigarettes at their own will, see rated R movies, and buy nonsense off the TV networks. At worst they can buy or rent pornography in videos or magazines, but most importantly they can enlist in the military; go to war and die for their country. But, by law they are not aloud to sit and have a glass of wine or a beer with their family and friends before they would have to embark on such a journey, in which they might not return. Yes, you can be eighteen and die for your country, but no, you have to be twenty-one to have a beer. Now, it is understood that some of these adolescents are not ready to enter adulthood, but time can not be stopped. Plus, there are many adults that should have never had the right to enter adulthood.
From my own experiences I know not being twenty-one never stopped my family, friends and me from drinking. My family figured by the time I graduated high school I had matured enough to sustain how much and often I wanted to drink. My friends and I would drink together often, but we were always responsible about it...
