Musical Into the Woods

  I went to the musical "Into the Woods" on Friday, at Bryan hall. I choose this event because I want to know the special role of music in the musical. In the musical, unlike in concert, music is not main object. Music should follow the story, and they never go out alone. Music in musical have to describe character's feeling, sound of nature, and even atmosphere.
  In this musical, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, trumpet, Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Percussion, Piano, and Synthesizer are used in Orchestra. As I said above, those instruments were played for the story. Especially, Clarinet, Viola, and piano are so interesting. First, Clarinet was used for "funny" scene. For example, Jack's mother said to Jack that he must sell his lovely cow for much money, but Jack sold to Baker for 3 tiny peas, so this scene of Jack's fool is funny...
