Located in Snelling Avenue North in Saint Paul, Black Sea Restaurant is truly unique. It is the only Turkish restaurant in the cities.
Since I am a native of Istanbul, I went to Black Sea Restaurant because I was longing for the home food I've been away from for several months.
The first thing that I noticed as I walked in was how authentic the restaurant was. There is nothing fake about the atmosphere, and it made me feel lite I was in my own city walking into a random, tasty Turkish restaurant.
The Turkish music which rang through the speakers, the photographs of Istanbul on the walls ,the world famous Turkish carpets here and there, traditional Turkish copperware, and the Turkish waiters with their welcoming and warm smiles reminded me once again that I am Turkish.
After I sat down with my American friends on the comfortable leather chairs around a small round table, the waiter came to ask us what we would like to drink. I recommended my friends to order sour cherry juice. It is a beverage that we drink a lot Turkey but is hard to find in America. You could also get any soda or a soft drink and even "ayran", which is a combination of water, salt and yogurt that is loved by Turkish people...
