Special education in public schools is something that is valued by many children and parents. New Jersey is a state that makes sure pupils with disabilities receive full educational opportunities. New Jersey recognizes fifteen educational disabilities. They are as follows; auditorily handicapped, autism, chronically ill, communication handicapped, eligible for speech-language services, emotionally disturbed, mentally retarded, eligible for day training, multiply handicapped, neurologically impaired, perceptually impaired, pre-school handicapped, orthopedically handicapped, socially maladjusted, visually impaired.
The decision to include a special education child is made by an Individual Educational Planning and placement committee. This committee is typically made up of one or both of the child's parents, the special education teacher, relevant professionals such as the school psychologist, and the administrator who supervises the special education program in which the student participates.
New Jersey's special education programs employ people who can cater to these student's individual needs. Although there are many plans to provide New Jersey's special education children with great opportunities, there are still some general deficits that affect a student's ability to learn effectively.
