With the birth of the video game Pong, video games have been in existence for more than 30 years. 79% of American children play video games on a regular basis. Adolescents age seven through seventeen play for an average of eight hours a week, (Walsh 1). Even my cousin, whom is age eleven, enjoys playing them. My aunt unfortunately says he is addicted. It has gotten to the point in which she has to hide the electric adaptor to prevent him from playing. For this reason alone I am very concerned about the effects of video games on children.
Video games affect children in many different ways. It is fair to say that every child is different and some children will be affected a certain way while others won't. Video games improve hand eye coordination, increase problem solving and logic, and promote the use of strategies in adolescents...
