Mahabharata, named one of the world's greatest religious classics, is a poem with a 100,000 couplets. The Bhagavad-Gita is a part of the great epic through which Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna. Arjuna poses the question of "what should be done with life" and Krishna aids Arjuna seek the answer through the Bhagavad-Gita. There are several themes spread across all throughout the Bhagavad-Gita. These themes range from past life to post life, god, salvation, humanity and love.
I feel the dominating theme in the Gita is of Humanity since it starts with the battle that Arjuna has to fight. It is through here that Krishna's teachings in the divination or the salvation realm. Prakriti and Purusha come from the divine. Immortality prevails as the soul changes bodies as people do clothes. I am not sure if this thought was co-incidental or it was Krishna expressing his thoughts but it is really ironic that he mentions this as Arjuna is about to fight in the impending war...
