1.1 Social Problems
A small island of only 582km2 with almost no natural resources, Singapore had a population of 1.9 million that was growing rapidly at a rate of 2.5% per year. As Singapore is already so small, a rapidly growing population would mean that would be a lot of people sharing homes. As most people live in congested conditions, places with no proper facilities such as piped water, electricity, sanitary facilities, health problems arise. Many students would not be able to attend school, as there are too little schools to cater them all.
Without peace among the different races, riots can easily break out anytime. Such incidents will disrupt work. These in turn reduced the number of working days and it will prove to be a costly burden for the investor to bear...
