A Game of Catch
In this assignment I will give me interpretation on the following story “A game of catch” by Richard Wilbur.
The story ‘a game of catch’ is a moving story about power. ... It starts off with Monk and Glennie two close friends having a peaceful game of catch, enjoying themselves like most young kids do. ... I think Glennie had a feeling by looking at Scho that he couldn’t play the game, and tried to make him not play by asking Scho if he has brought his gloves with him. ...
Now Glennie and Monk have an extra addition to their Game of Catch, Scho. ... They all passed the ball around to each other, having a peaceful game, but it wasn’t too long for that peace to be broken. ... It started to become a two man game of catch, as Monk and Glennie would be throwing more between them, and miss Scho completely. ... ’ To Monk and Glennie that throw should be a walk in the park to catch, but Scho obviously not up to their standard, was unable to catch the ball. ... ’ I think what Monk is trying to say, is that it was an easy catch, and trying to imply that Scho cannot catch a ball, and should not play with them. ...
Glennie asks Scho to sit out of the game for a while, and let him and monk have a few grounders for five minutes, than he will be able to join them again.
