The article I chose is titled, "The Importance of the Development of Motor Skills to Children." It was written by Gina V. Barton, Kim Fordyce, and Kym Kirby, and is located in the July 1999 issue of TEPE magazine. The article is about the development of motor skills, and how this development affects the child. Motor skill development is directly related to growth development. As a child grows, his/her motor skills develop as well. Most of this development occurs without intervention, but the physical educator plays a huge role. This is defined in NASPE's Standards 1 and 2, which states that a physically educated person should "demonstrate competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms," and should "apply movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills."
