"Brighton Rock" Graham Greene
Question- Choose a character from a novel whose presence is of great importance to one of the main themes of the book. Explain his/her role in the novel and show how his/her fate casts light on the theme.
The novel "Brighton Rock" by Graham Greene is a story that contains many themes whilst dealing with the main story of the troubled life of a small-time gangster. In his story it deals with his friends and another main character, Rose, Pinkie's girlfriend. The main theme that I will be discussing is that of good versus evil. I found the book interesting as there were many incidents happening throughout the story. The book begins with the death of a man called Hale and for the rest of the novel Pinkie and his gang try to cover up the fact that they were involved with the murder. Meanwhile a woman called Ida tries to solve the murder.
In many cases throughout the novel Pinkie is portrayed as and associated with evil. Pinkie is the main character in the story and is the leader of his small-time gang...
