The concept of management is not a new invention. It has been around for several hundreds of years. In 600 BC, Lau Tzu, who was a great Chinese sage said, "If you fail to honor people, they will fail to honor you"(Eppler 18).
This is the basic key to management, in the past, present and future. Many management failures are a result of a total disregard to this wise comment. There are many ways in which their employers have dishonored employees. Some major errors made by companies include a failure to use praise and encouragement, influence people rather than trying to acquire power, as well as, a failure to solicit input from employees before making changes that effect their responsibilities.
