Education School is a Students Community

From kindergarten to my present day status of a college junior I would say that school, at most, has provide a sense of security. I am one and many of my students' peers are lucky enough to have found comfort in a place where we spend an enormous amount of time. School should always provide this sort feeling of comfort to students. If students feel safe and welcomed in an institution then it is easier for one to learn. Gloria Ladson-Billings author of The Dreamkeepers, Daniel R. Meier author of Learning in Small Moments: Life in a Urban Classroom, and Sylvia Ashton-Warner author of Teacher, all understand that a classroom is a community; a community that provides a feeling of home.
Landson-Billings states her understanding the concept that school needs to be a community by her recount of her days as a young girl in school.
