Thank to the research made concerning the knowledge boundaries in the product development (syntactic approach, semantic approach and pragmatic approach), Paul Carlile propose in his essay to find boarders to examine:
OBJECTIF
1. knowledge across various communities involve in a new product development.
2. how different kind of knowledge will impact in a communities of practice.
ORIGINALITY
The new approach is to study how the knowledge evolves across various communities and not only to focus on knowledge evolution within a single community of practice.
He used an ethnographic approach, i.e., he describes his own experience to provide three main charachteristics of knowledge in practice: localized, embedded and invested in practice.
According to Hammer and Champy, the re-engineering is to start again everything from the beginning. It require to forget the old way of doing business to think again all the processes and find the best modern way of doing business, taking in account the current market and the available technology...
