One can compare the relationship of Lind and Mark with Judith and Sven. A few similarities and differences of these two relationships can be seen easier when one looks at them under closer analysis:
Both relationships possess a certain amount of secrecy due to the scrutiny of the public eye. In the year Ostenso wrote Wild Geese, 1925, it was customary for the local teacher to be the epitome of goodness and it was expected that she was to be perfect in every way. Therefore, Lind had to be cautious to avoid a scandal. Obviously, when it comes to Judith's relationship with Sven, there is Caleb's constant supervision and the likely extreme punishments that would result if he discovered their relationship. Judith had to be careful when with Sven to avoid such consequences.
The differences between Lind's relationship and Judith's relationship are easier seen. One can deduce from reading the novel that Judith and Sven have a relationship that is very physical, where Lind and Mark do not.
