If asked to list my favorite things, I could surely name a few. There are pastimes favored by many: listening to music, reading novels, and watching films. Truly, these are among the things I like to do. If pressed for the most treasured item on my list of favorite things, I'd say it is music. While I appreciate many different styles of music, it is the South Asian music genre that truly resonates within me. This is the favorite food of my soul because it is the music of my people, because it tells a story of my life, and because it frees me from physical boundaries.
South Asian music encompasses the music of that region: chiefly India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Lyrically, of course, they differ according to the language of each country: Hindi, Urdu, and Bangla respectively.
