The 3rd movement of Mozart’s piano sonata in A major, entitled Rondo alla Turca is an unusual adaptation of rondo form. Rather that using the A section as the rondo theme, as is usually characteristic of rondo form, Mozart uses the B section as the theme, the A section and the C section being the episodes. ... In this movement Mozart uses the structure ABCBAB followed by a coda. Another interesting feature in this movement is the Turkish influence on the music. ... Various other works of the time imitate the music, including Mozarts opera “The Abduction from the Seraglio” but it does not typically feature in any of Mozart’s other sonatas. The movement begins in the tonic minor and ends in the tonic major, again this is rather unusual for Mozart. ... Although only 8 bars long, this is the main theme of the movement. It is one of the most Turkish parts of the movement however musically is arguably the least interesting.
