Salutary neglect began as a board of men who worked toward subjecting the colonies into a more efficient and royal control. During the eighteenth century, the board became more involved in the colonial government. The salutary neglect also became a policy directed toward those of the colonies. This policy from Britain influenced the development of American society in three ways: the Legislative Assemblies, commerce, and religion.
Legislative assemblies were known at the powers of the assemblies. The appointed were men who held a "stake in society" and by an outside authority. For the most, only adult free white males could vote with more specific qualifications in different colonies. These colonial politics of the eighteenth century were alike to the seventeenth. A lot didn't change before the salutary neglect took over the colonies. During the Glorious Revolution in England, the king lost to Parliament and from then on, the assemblies would have difficulty fighting for their rights...
