THAT NONE SHOULD PERISH

One fateful day of the year 1521 a local chieftain by the name of Lapu- lapu stood at the beach of Mactan, an island of the Philippines to defend his people and to defy the Spanish aggressors. Utilizing his superiority in number of men against the heavily armored Spaniards, he drove the intruders and gave the Filipinos the first ever taste of victory over foreign invaders.
From Greece comes Miltiades, one of the ten Greek generals in the famous "battle of Marathon." He made the momentous decision for the Greek to take the offensive against the Persian inspite of the fact that they were greatly outnumbered by their adversaries. So it happened in 490 B.C, in the plain of Marathon that the Greek made a surprise sortie against the formidable army of Persia throwing them into confusion and gaining complete victory.
Charles Martel in 732 A.D in the field of Tours, France rallied about him the strong knights of Franks to thwart the onslaught of the Mohammedan invaders against Christian Europe. With his success against the Muslims he was considered by many writers and historians as the protector of Christianity of Europe.
