Homeschooling has its advantages and disadvantages. It allows the parent to customize their child's education. On the other hand, it separates the child from an important part of life, socialization. Homeschooling is a growing trend, but is it a good idea? I think it takes away too much of interaction giving the child a false sense of security.
In Karl M. Bunday's article "Learn in Freedom", Karl states that children in traditional schools are segregated by age and learning at home can offer them a more mature learning environment. Yes it provides a more custom tailored education but the lack of structure is alarming. No matter what career path is taken in life there will be structure to adhere to and deadlines to be met.
