Barbara Ehrenreich is a well-educated, successful woman with a Ph. D. in biology. She has lived an overall well life. She never had to struggle to get by or worry about money until she started her own project, discovering what it was like to live in poverty. Barbara transformed herself into a working, poor, individual. She put all her money aside and took out $1200 for starting up fees, including some emergency and food money.
Furthermore, Barbara's project included finding residence and work in Key West, Florida; Portland, Massachusetts; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Barbara was shocked at all the hidden truths about the poor that the rest of society never hears about. She found it almost impossible to live healthily as a minimum wage worker...
