An Impossible Drug War
The War on Drugs is an ongoing operation that costs taxpayers tons of money each year and will never totally get rid of the drug problem in this country. Every year thousands of drug dealers and users are caught and put into already overcrowded prisons. They are given ridiculous sentences that are called mandatory minimums. The system believes that the drug problem raises the crime rate, so they feel that the sentences need to be stiffer, so druggies will stop using or dealing because the punishment isn't worth the crime. These stiffer punishments have become abused and murderer's are getting out before a person who didn't harm anyone, and just sold drugs. Is this right?
