In the science-fiction thriller Alien, the female role is very evident in both the villain and heroine. There are many elements in this film that connect Ripley to the Alien itself. Such elements are: the Alien is characterized as a female, Ripley being a feminist heroine challenges the Alien effectively, and that Ripley is similar to the alien because of her feminism, which is not problematic. ... The Alien starts off by attacking the male members of the crew about the ship. The Alien does not kill the male members, but instead infuses them with an egg. ... Once the egg is hatched, the newborn alien releases itself from the stomach of the male--killing him. This shows that the Alien can use male organs to reproduce offspring, thus proving that it is female. This is because the Alien has the sexual need to reproduce using a male just like any other normal female would. Through this process the Alien proves that it will continue to be keep a sense of dominance. Throughout the film the Alien hesitates to attack Ripley and even the cat. The Alien thrives to be the dominant female and sees Ripley as a threat and because the Alien cannot reproduce offspring with her organs she uses a different method of attacking.
