INTRODUCTION
Rap Music is a direct descendant of rhythm and blues music, which mostly consists of vocals with musical accompaniment. The first rap recordings can be traced back to 1979 and this genre of music rose to dominance in the United States during the mid 1980s. Sometimes the word rap is synonymous with the hip hop genre. The term hip hop is derived from the earliest phrases used in rap, and can be found in the recording of "Rapper's Delight" (1979) a rap song performed by the Sugarhill Gang.
Rap music has inspired an entire subculture also comprises other forms of expression, including break dancing, graffiti art, fashion as well as a unique slang vocabulary.
ORIGIN AND HISTORY
The music genre known as rap, originated in the mid 1970's in the South Bronx area of New York City. The rise of rap originated within the African-American community and was initially recorded by small, independent record labels. Rap music in its very beginning was exclusively marketed to a black audience. This new style of music slowly attached white musicians, and a few started to perform it. The Beastie Boys was the first white rap group to release a record, "You Gotta Fight for Your Right, To Party!..
