The Greeks have contributed a lot to the way people live today. The way buildings are constructed, the celebration of the Olympics every four years comes from this intelligent civilization. The Greeks also created two forms of government, which are democracy and republic. Many civilizations find these systems useful today and most of the things the Greeks have contributed have stayed with humans for ages.
The Olympics stared out as a religious festival until the King of Elis decided he wanted it to be more. The Greeks, being athletic people, always wanted to test each other's physical abilities. The king made a truce with other rulers saying that athletes could travel back and forth between the countries without any trouble at all. Since the Greeks measured time in four year periods called Olympiads the Olympics had it's name.
In addition to the already fascinating contributions of the Greeks, there is one that is more fascinating than the others. The people of Greece were artistic in making buildings and changed architecture for the world...
