I decided that I would work on learning how to use new versions of instructional media that I could already operate. I did this mainly because I have a very good general sense of being able to operate just about anything in a classroom, but I don't always know about the newest equipment. The four pieces of material that I concentrated on were the copy machine, the IBM compatible computer, the Microsoft Office Suite, and web access/ denial.
My parents have had a copy machine for a few years, and I've also used the local hardware store's $.05 machine, but I had not used a machine like the one at Memorial. As with most technology, I learned how to use it very quickly, and without destroying anything. I can now print in different colors, two-sided, different paper sizes, etc. I simply follow the menu on the tiny screen, and memorize what the terminology refers to. For most jobs, however, my parents' machine has plenty of options for me. I also plan on buying an inexpensive "all-in-one" printer/ copier/ scanner for my computer, which will allow me to do some jobs at home...
