Heaven and Earth OR Hell and Bliss Heaven and Earth is a very powerful film. It is the last of a trilogy of films on the Vietnam War. After seeing the film Platoon, I knew that Oliver Stone’s background in Vietnam as a soldier, played a very strong role in his productions. When I saw Heaven and Earth my heart went out to him. In my opinion this film was the final beautiful eye opener of his trilogy. He did a spectacular job portraying life in Vietnam through the eyes of Phung Le Ly. Her life story was revealed with such power and emotion that you felt the joy and sorrow with her as the story was told. There are so many morals you could have picked out of this movie but unfortunately I can only focus on one. The moral I felt that portrayed both the most powerful and significant message was that the fate of Le Ly was in so many ways similar to the fate of her country. She was torn between both sides of Vietnam, and suffered so many losses but still persevered. Both sides wanted the best for themselves in every aspect of life.
