After analyzing the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth amendments to the Constitution, people could understand that there is a direct connection to the reconstruction. The thirteenth amendment states that slavery was abolished in the whole nation. Amendment fourteen affirms the rights of the citizens. The fifteenth amendment confirms that ex-slaves have voting rights. Abolition of Slavery, Rights of Citizens, and Voting Rights were all amendments to the Constitution that are connected to the reconstruction of the United States.
Amendment thirteen to the Constitution was directly related to the Civil war. The Civil wars main cause was to get rid of slavery and to keep the South part of the Union. Andrew Johnson demanded that the Southern states ratify the abolition of slavery and pledge loyalty to the North. The Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution was approved January of 1865.
