Handguns have a very large role in our society. They have many uses, whether productive or not is the reason why this is such a controversial issue today. The topic of gun control has come at the forefront of issues that needs to be dealt with in order to preserve our society. There are many controversies due to the wording in the constitution regarding weapons.
In the United States' Constitution the following is sated under the second amendment, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." That is very difficult to discern in our society because clearly the ancestors of the constitution did not foresee the problems this part of the Second Amendment could pose. Handgun's cause murder and other physical harm on others when abused. We have seen examples of this ranging from high school students (Columbine High School Shooting); even to adults (the numerous handguns related murder cases that fill our news every night). However, handgun advocates believe that the way to solve the problems guns pose is to regulate them and mandate stricter laws to ensure that safety is the first concern.
