When Dutch people took control of Indonesia, many Indonesian people were suffering. They didn’t have enough food, clothes, or appropriate shelter. Indonesian people had to pay heavy taxes of their own land, gave some of their crops to the Dutch, or being slave. At the same time, in West-Java, there was a poor man named Jaka Weton. He lived with his wife and his son. They lived in a small hunt made of bamboo with an earthen floor. They used shabby clothes and if they were lucky they could eat cassava or rice twice a day. Sometimes if they didn’t have good fortune, they didn’t eat anything. Everyday, Weton worked as a labor, tilling the rice fields owned by a rich Dutch people. Weton only got a low pay. Weton also had to pay heavy taxes. Not only Weton, but also almost all of the Indonesian people were suffering, and poor. In his heart, Weton said, “If I had the Disappearing Power, I will steal the Dutch people’s money and divide the money to the poor people.” Weton envied the Dutch people’s lifestyle. He always asked, “Why can’t we be the Landlord of our country?” One day, Weton had a strange dream. He saw an old man using white clothes who said, “If you want Indonesian people to be prosperous, go with me to the forest, and if you find a waterfall, find a big tree with a big stone under it.
