America's decision to attack Iraq and go after Saddam Hussein was, and still is, an issue of
bitter controversy among many Americans. Many disagreements exist as to whether or not there will be
any benefits resulting from the involvement of the United States in the war on terrorism. Surprising as it
may be to some individuals, there are indeed many benefits of this war that justify America's decision to
step outside of their cozy, sheltered bubble of American life, face the realities of terror that exists in other
countries and try to make a difference out there.
Because of the troops winning the war in Iraq, the people of Iraq now have an improved life
style: possibly not such as they've ever had before. The Iraqis now have a better environment in which
to live and raise their families in. As Eric Schmitt says, American troops are currently working very hard
to restore many of the public buildings such as schools (n.p.) Likewise, Iraqi roads are being rebuilt: an
action that will result in better commerce and trade. Schmitt also recognizes that there are several scattered
areas in Baghdad that are still without electricity, and the American leaders there are working to fix the
situation so that all the people in Baghdad will have electricity in their homes. (n...
