Purpose: To inform the reader of the life the Tony Hawk lived and the history he made.
The 900: A History In Skateboarding
“This is the best day of my life, I swear to god,” says Tony Hawk (“The Tony Hawk Story” n. ... Tony Hawk is undoubtedly one of the best skateboarders of all time and with over six dozen first place finishes in 103 contests, over 80 tricks invented, and the only person till this day to land a 900, this fact is difficult to argue (“Tony Hawk” n. ... The 900 is an aerial maneuver that requires two and a half rotations in mid air high above the half pipe. ... Tony Hawk landing the 900 not only accomplished his life long goal but also changed the sport of skateboarding, as we know it. ... By the time Tony had turned eleven and was starting to skate decently, however, the sport of skateboarding would experience its first death almost over night (Hawk and Mortimer 40). Although skateboarding was on its decline, Tony still received his first sponsor Dogtown skateboards (Hawk and Mortimer 41). ... His entire carrier would culminate on the eve of June 27, 1999 when Tony would land the 900 (Hawk and Mortimer 1).
The 900 is areguably the greatest trick ever accomplished in skateboarding. To really understand the 900 a person must start from the beginning. ... By this time Tony was able to land 540s on a regular basis and decided to try and throw an extra 360 in the rotation, hence creating the 900. ...
