In "I, Too, Am a Good Parent," written by Dorsett Bennett he tries to gain custody of his children. He illustrates how the legislature system discriminate on fathers that want custody. The gender standards still stands in the way of fathers gaining custody. Most children are being placed with the mother. To make it so bad, just saying I deserve to keep my children because I am their mother can guarantee you custody. There are some fathers that would do anything to have their children.
Bennett feels he should have custody of his children. He wants to be the male role model in their lives. He wants to go to the school plays, help with fund raisers, help with homework, and go to the parent/teacher conference. He wants to be the driving force in their life...
