Sir Isaac Newton was a mathematician and a physicist. His discoveries and theories laid the foundation for much of the progress in science and math since his time. Newton also solved the mysteries of light and optics, formulated the three laws of motion, and derived from them the law of universal gravitation. Isaac Newton is a very important person to science today. His many discoveries and theories were the building blocks of much science.
He was born on Christmas Day, 1642 in Woolsthorpe, England. Newton studied at Cambridge and was professor of mathematics from 1669 to 1701. His most important discoveries were during 1664 to 1666. At that time he discovered the law of universal gravitation, began to develop calculus and discovered that white light is composed of all the colors of the spectrum. These findings allowed him to make fundamental contributions to mathematics, astronomy, and theoretical and experimental physics...
