If I were to compare 1984 to Star Treks, Chain of Command I would say there are many similarities. During the movie there were things that stood out and others that were harder to notice.
1984 is a book about being controlled in areas of life, love and freedom, and when two characters, Winston and Julia fall upon eachother they are looking for a way to go against Big Brother, in two completly different ways. When they are caught by the telescreen Winston is tortured into thinking and behaving as the way he was before, which was not at all. Big Brother controlled all thoughts. Winston is beaten, and tortured into telling the truth and brainwashed to see and think things that were not true because he was told to. Orwell also talks about the cold war between Ociania and Eastasia that continues throughout the book, but in the end it is told that there was no war. Orwell tries to show Big Brothers control with uniforms and many other things that make the people of Ociania appear to be the same.
Star Treks "Chain of Command" compares to 1984 in the obvious ways, such as the uniforms, the power to make one believe something that is not true with force, the cold war, and the rebelling of the captain. The uniforms are used to depict the amount of power between the beings on the ship...
