Elvis Aaron Presley and his twin brother, Jesse Garon, were born in East Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. They were the sons of Gladys and Vernon Presley, a couple of poor, religious farmers. His brother was still born, so Elvis was raised as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953.
