Medical Ethics
In the United States society is plagued with the ongoing controversial subject of medical ethics. Medical ethics is known as a discipline/methodology for considering the implications of medical technology/treatment and what out to be. Judgment of medical ethics varies from practice to practice, physician to physician, and organization to organization.
The origin of medical ethics dates back to 400 b.c. The Hippocratic Oath was the first medical oath of its kind, which is credited to Hippocrates himself. This Oath formed the precedent for recent medical oaths that are taken by students as they begin the practice of medicine. Essential points of this oath include these items: honor instructors in the medical arts, pass on the Art only to those bound by the oath, practice for the benefit of patients, give no deadly medicine of substance to produce abortion, enter homes for the benefit of the sick, abstain from mischief and corruption, and doctor-patient confidentiality.
