These could be headlines from any publication in any town. What if I told you, however, that a solution to these plagues could be found in Mozart and VanGogh? The influence of fine arts in education touches all areas in a student's life. Yet, imagine a future America that has lost its ability to remember a tune, to perceive design and visual beauty, and to express and understand human experience. The arts in education should be encouraged and supported in all our public and private schools.
The presence of dramatic, musical, and visual arts in the classroom improves both the cognitive and physical capabilities of a student. In addition, the benefits of arts education stretch far beyond the school environment...
