Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, also known as Abe Lincoln, was born on February 12, 1809 on a mattress stuffed with cornhusks. Abe Lincoln was born just outside the small town of Hodgenville, Kentucky. Abe's mother was Nancy Hanks Lincoln and his father Thomas Lincoln. Ever since Abe Lincoln was a child he was influenced by his parents that slavery was a bad idea. In Kentucky the Lincoln's went to a antislavery Baptist Church. At a young age, Abraham and his family moved to new territory in Indiana and then later moved to Illinois, where he spent most of his political career. Nancy Lincoln died in Indiana because of poisonous milk. Abe was not well educated, as a kid he attended school with his sister about once a week and had no college experience. Abraham Lincoln was an avid reader however, influenced by Aesop's Fables, Robinson Crusoe, and Pilgrim's Progress In Illinois, Abe got his first job rowing a flatboat to southern cities and selling goods that he received from people in Illinois. Lincoln and his father Tom didn't have a great relationship, and his sister died from child birth when Abe was 18...
