Throughout your life, you encounter many people. Some may have no influence on your life while others leave lasting impressions, and a special few significantly influence your life. This person may have always been in your life or recently became part of your life. The person that has had a significant influence on my life is someone that I have known throughout my existence, my grandmother.
To understand the influence that my Grandmother has had on my short life, her background must be known and understood. My Grandmother, Maria Grace Forlenza grew up as a child during the Great Depression in Brooklyn, New York. She was one of nine children in her family. She shared a bed with two of her sisters in a two-room apartment without plumbing. The entire family had to use the public baths. At the age of fourteen she was forced to quit school and begin working to help support the family...
