On February 14th, 1929, at half passed ten in a location known as the S-M-C Cartage Company, a red brick warehouse that was doubling as a liquor storage facility; was doomed to encounter a portion of history that would be remembered forever. A group of men whom were members of the George "Bugs" Moran gang had gathered at the warehouse. They were set up by a Detroit gangster under the assumption
that a truck of hijacked whiskey was about to arrive
While the seven men waited inside the warehouse they had no idea that a police car, or a black touring car disguised as one had pulled up outside. Neither did they notice that Moran had spotted the
vehicle, and fearing it to be a police car, had quickly taken cover. Four men emerged from the car. Two men were dressed in civilian clothes and the other two men were dressed in police uniforms, while
a third man dressed in a uniform waited in the drivers seat of the car. The four men entered the building and a few moments later, the rattle of machine gun fire could be heard, breaking the silence of the still snowy morning. Shortly afterward, four figures left the warehouse,
the two dressed as civilians came out first with their hands held high, pushed forward by the other two in uniform as though they were in the midst of an arrest. They all entered the vehicle and drove away.
Inside the building one of the men's dogs were barking frantically, and when a few curious neighbors went to check they were faced with six distorted bodies sprawled grotesquely at the base of a stone wall, and one was lying slumped over a wooden chair...
