Teen violence in America
Teen violence has plagued the nation for many of decades and centuries. Since 1993, the number of teens arrested for violent crimes (murder, robbery, rape) has declined. Still, a large number of teens were arrested for violent crimes in 1999 and teen violence in schools has actually increased (Gaskins, "Teen violence: Science"). Many American teenagers have been affected by the result of teen violence. Firearm usage by teen African-American's is number one cause for teenage death occurring from the ages 15-19. Violent behavior often peaks during the late teen years and then drops off sharply in early adulthood (Gaskins, "Teen violence"). This occurs because of the low hormone level that can make some kids more fearless, leading to aggressive behavior (Gaskins, "Teen violence: Science"). Many actions can result in teenagers to be more aggressive than others. For example, lack of parents or parent in the household, lack of nurture from parents, lack of attention from the parents, or discouragement from others. Teens also often have bad judgment because of the peer pressure, the environment that they are or were being raised in or even the people in their household...
